Kate is an award winning architectural lighting designer based out of Boulder, Colorado. Her multi-disciplinary design background and her seasoned lighting acumen gives her an advantage to see projects in ways that others typically do not by emphasizing how architecture & interior design can be woven together flawlessly with the aid of lighting with a balance of aesthetics and functionality. Her work showcases light that complements a space rather than controlling it.
A Texas Christian University alumna, Kate understands the added value that well-design lighting adds to the overall aesthetic & atmosphere of a project. Following undergrad, Ms. Cullen relocated to New York City where she acquired an MFA in Architectural Lighting Design from the prestigious Parsons New School for Design in 2009.
Relocating to Boulder, Colorado in 2011, Cullen Lighting Studio has taken her to Aspen for a 48 million dollar residential remodel and even as far away as St. Lucia.
Cullen Lighting Studio has been fortunate to work with a collection of architects, interior designers, curators and clients. Well versed in lighting design and striving at client interaction, Kate can listen to a client's ideas and turn them into something beyond the client's imagination. She transforms the interior & exterior spaces with light while her design sense allows lighting to dove-tail with the architecture.
